Cormorants are medium to large sized fishers. All the 3 species of Cormorants that are found in India are dark coloured. Some species have coloured facial skin. The Great Cormorant has yellow and a white gular patch, the chin is yellow with a patch of white skin after yellow.
The bill is long, thin and hooked at the end. They have webbed feet which help them to swim and dive in water. The long neck is in the shape of an ‘S’.
Cormorants can be found anywhere where there is a plenty of fish for them and enough water to dive into. The Little Cormorant is however found near most of the fresh and salt water sources.
